Shahjahanpur:

A 17-year-old Dalit lady was allegedly raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur by a 25-year-old man, who was arrested hours later, police mentioned on Sunday.

The accused is from the lady’s village, the police mentioned.

“On Saturday, a 17-year-old Dalit lady was raped in a sugarcane discipline by a 25-year-old man from her village beneath Jalalabad police station,” Superintendent of Police S Anand mentioned.

The lady managed to flee and narrated her ordeal to her relations, who lodged a police grievance, he mentioned.

The accused was arrested late on Saturday evening, the police mentioned, including that the lady has been despatched for a medical examination.
